This is the last week of the McTavishing Quilt Along at Amy's Free Motion Quilting:  http://freemotionquiltingadventures.blogspot.com/2014/03/mctavishing-monday-5-free-motion-link.html
This week  I found some smoother curves & lines.  I'm so glad to finally see them!

Week 3 Amy's Free Motion Quilt Along

This week I tried to loosen up which made a bit of improvement.  This first picture is the finishing of one of last week's practice sample. This is on my domestic machine.
This next pictures is my first attempt on the longarm

Week 2 McTavishing Quilt Along

Week 2 at http://freemotionquiltingadventures.blogspot.com/2014/03/mctavishing-monday-2-free-motion-link.html
Well I liked my drawing and saw some improvement this week:

But had difficulty getting a free flowing stitch.  It's very cramped & not smooth.

The frustration for me is that many hours later, it did not look improved to me.
Ah well, back to practice.  I ran out of time & did not get to try it on the longarm.  Will try later on that.  I usually have only a couple hours if I'm lucky to sew during the work week.

Amy's McTavishing Quilt Along

Amy at freemotionquiltingadventures.blogspot.com has started a quilt along for anyone wishing to develop their version of Karen McTavish's filler stitch McTavishing.  Every Monday in March we will post our progress or project.  I'm a little behind since it's Wednesday but here's my initial drawing.  I did this tight like a zentangle.  I imagine when I stitch something out, I will do it much looser.
